A motorcyclist‘s collision with a deer on the Gold Coast has revived memories of a heated public spat involving Clive Palmer and his randy herd of resort deer.

A motorcyclist has been injured after hitting a deer on the Gold Coast, reviving memories of a very public spat involving Clive Palmer and a herd of randy deer terrorising the same area.

The man, 42, was riding along Robina Parkway at Merrimac about 3am Wednesday when the animal ran out of bushland.

Police say he tried to take evasive action but struck the deer and fell off his motorbike.

The deer was found dead at the scene while the man suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A deer herd kept by billionaire Clive Palmer on a Merrimac wedding resort he owned has caused issues on the Gold Coast in the past.

In 2017, Mr Palmer took to social media to allege that gun-toting council officers had gone on a ‘murderous’ killing spree of his deer at the property.

But Mator Tom Tate angrily fired back, flatly denying the bizarre allegations.

Earlier in 2016, it was revealed multiple deer linked to Mr Palmer’s resort were running rampant during the seasonal breeding season, know as the rut, during which stags fight other males in a bid to win the affection of females.

In August this year, the New Zealand Warriors endured a bizarre experience after a wild deer gatecrashed their captain’s run training session.

The Warriors were preparing to hit the paddock at Pizzey Park on the Gold Coast when a deer was spotted on the loose.
