Deer crashes NRL training session

The New Zealand Warriors have endured a bizarre experience after a wild deer gatecrashed their captain’s run training session on Thursday morning.

The Warriors were preparing to hit the paddock at Pizzey Park on the Gold Coast when a deer was spotted on the loose.

Players emerged from a team meeting to see an out-of-control deer running around the fields at Miami, with some having to get out of its way as it charged towards them.

It was a bizarre moment in the lead-up to Friday night’s game against Canberra at Mackay’s BB Print Stadium.

“It was running around scared and crashed through a fence,” an onlooker said.

“The Warriors were in a team meeting and came out to see a deer on the loose. They were shocked to see what was happening. It was wild.”

The deer was last seen headed towards the trendy Nobby’s Beach area on the Glitter Strip.

Meanwhile, Ricky Stuart’s Raiders were spotted enjoying a swim at the picturesque Currumbin Beach at the same time.
