An abandoned house was gutted by fire in Brisbane’s east on Monday evening.
It was the second house fire in as many days in Brisbane, after an abandoned house in Hamilton burnt down on Sunday.
Fire crews were called to the house in Wynnum Rd, Cannon Hill, about 5.50pm on Monday and took nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze.
Huge plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the house, with one resident saying the heat was so intense it could be felt from the other side of the road
“The light from the fire was so bright I could see it from my place a few streets away,” they said.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area, with eastbound lanes of Wynnum Rd near Barrack Rd blocked due to efforts to extinguish the fire.
Paramedics were on the scene but no one was injured.
A crime scene was established late on Monday night, with investigations continuing. Police said the fire was being treated as suspicious, but there was nothing to suggest a link with the Hamilton blaze.
Police are urging anyone with information or dash cam footage that could help police to contact them.
