Police have declared a crime scene at a Hamilton address after a home was destroyed by a massive fire on Sunday afternoon.
Flames engulfed the two-storey timber home on Nudgee Rd about 1.50pm, and the building was well alight by the time eight fire crews responded.
Fires could be seen through the windows of the corner house, which is across the road from an antiques store, and shooting through the roof in a video taken by a passer-by.
There was no-one inside the house and no-one is injured.
Police say the fire is suspicious and have asked anyone with vision or further information to contact them.
Giant plumes of smoke also could be seen billowing into the sky in the video.
The smoke from the house was spotted from neighbouring suburbs.
Neighbour Jolanta Edwards rushed from her property to see what was going on as she heard sirens and smelt smoke.
“I could smell it, I’m surprised it’s still standing,” she said.
She said firefighters arrived quickly to put out the blaze.
The interior of the house has been gutted by fire, but the structure remains standing.
Paul Armitage, who also lives nearby, said as far as he knew the property had been empty for some time.
Queensland Police Service officers and Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics also responded to the house fire, but no one was hurt.
