Two people are dead and two others have been injured – one critically – in a horror crash in Logan on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Mollenhagen Rd near Pepperina Drv in Stockleigh about midday.

A 21-year-old female driver and 15-year-old female passenger died at the scene.

A 20-year-old woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition while a 23-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police Inspector, Lou Serafin, confirmed on Wednesday night that although a baby seat had been seen in the wreck, there had not been a baby on board at the time.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.

“The matter is still under investigation,” Inspector Serafin said.

“But I can say it was a single vehicle traffic crash and the vehicle did leave the road.”

“Police would like for any person who has dashcam or witnessed the traffic crash to come forward and provide information through Crimestoppers,” she said.

It follows more tragedy just down the road on the M1 on Wednesday afternoon with a motorcyclist killed in a crash with a truck at Nerang.

Southbound lanes of the M1 were closed, causing heavy delays for hours.
