A woman has died after a serious traffic incident in far north Queensland, with a major road set to be closed for several hours.

A woman has died after a serious traffic incident in a Far North Queensland town, with police warning a main road would be closed for several hours.
The incident happened on Junction Rd, Mossman, just inland of Port Douglas about 8.30pm on Thursday.
An ambulance spokesperson told The Courier Mail a 40-year-old woman had been found unconscious on the road and despite CPR efforts from first responders, was unable to be revived.
Police remained on the scene and advised locals to avoid the area or expect long delays, with road closures expected to remain for several hours.
