For three years the family of a missing Darling Downs woman has been left to wonder what happened to her and more importantly, where her final resting place may be.
Traie Maree Olsen, who would now be 53, was last seen at a 7-Eleven on Bridge St in Toowoomba around 1am on February 16.
Only a matter of hours after she was last seen, her silver Mazda 3 was located stuck in a ditch on a known four-wheel-drive track off Gittins Rd in the Lockyer Valley.
It’s understood Ms Olsen was not familiar with that particular area and police believed she would have no reason to be in that area.
Despite an extensive land search of the area including the use of police drones, Ms Olsen was nowhere to be found, however several of her personal items were recovered.
The last public appeal from police was for the driver of a red ute with its bonnet up, which was seen near Green Gully Rd around the time of Ms Olsen’s disappearance.
The Chronicle reached out to Queensland Police, however the QPS declined to comment on the case.
Ms Olsen’s disappearance has been referred to the Coroners Court of Queensland for a coronial investigation.
A CCQ spokesman said the investigation remains in the hands of coroner Don MacKenzie who is yet to finalise his findings.
“Coronial findings in relation to Ms Olsen have yet to be finalised. Findings will be provided to Ms Olsen’s family when completed,” The spokesman said.
“No further comment can be provided at this time.”
Traie is described as light-skinned or caucasian in appearance, about 165cm tall with a slight build, black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators made a recent devastating discovery in the disappearance of Roma woman Tayla Spies, whose remains were located 1km from where her 2017 Toyota HiLux was found abandoned on a property in Noorindoo, 330km southwest of Toowoomba.
