CAIRNS Dog Squad had a paw-fect time when they met with former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page at the launch of Goldsborough’s first community Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Thanks to the combined efforts of Cairns Dog Squad Leader Sergeant Dave Raymond and the Goldsborough Karate Club, $3000 was raised to install the AED in the Goldsborough Community.

The initiative is the brainchild of Greg Page after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest after leaving the stage of a Wiggles performance in 2020.

A crucial part of his survival was the timely use of an AED. After his release from hospital Greg made it his passion to get defibrillators in every community in Australia through his charity Heart of the Nation.

Sgt Raymond said he was honoured to be a part of the project in the Far North community.

“Having an AED within three minutes of someone having a cardiac arrest increases their chance of survival by 200 per cent,” Sgt Raymond said.

In the grounds of the Mountain View Hotel on Saturday, locals enjoyed displays from emergency services and instruction of AED use.
