A YOUNG Far North father-of-two two recently diagnosed with life threatening bowel cancer has a simple message for “proud blokes” when it comes to men’s health as he prepares for the fight of his life.

Just get tested.

Wonga Beach postman Eden Pitt, 36, says he ignored severe pain in his abdomen and signs “something wasn’t right” for months before a camping trip saw him hunched over on a cold, concrete toilet floor withering in pain.

“All it come down to was me being a hard head and thinking, man I’m going to have to get a doctor to stick his finger up my a***,” he said.

“I was scared for that, scared of having my privacy of a bloke intruded on.

“And at my age, I didn’t want anyone looking at my blooming backside.”

Mr Pitt said he “put it off for ages” despite having to pull over on his post delivery rounds due to the pains in his abdomen.

“It was excruciating pain. You couldn’t stand up, bend over, you didn’t know what to do. There was no happiness,” he said.

“I kept putting it off and then one day we went camping up Maryfarm and I spent three hours on the blooming toilet, on the concrete floor keeled over.

“Seeing blood, but just thinking ah no, it would be just something I ate.”

The popular postie said he was determined to “get stuck into the treatment” for his two daughters, Ella, 3 and 16-month old Scarlett, and his partner, Jasmine.

His diagnoses is likely to involve chemotherapy and radiation.

Mossman’s Post Office Hotel has organised a fundraiser to help with costs this Sunday, while a friend, Jo Black, has launched a Go Fund Me page.

Mr Pitt said he hoped his plight could help raise awareness for other men.

“Don’t be proud blokes, don’t be scared,” he said.

“Don’t be worried about being a tough bloke or having your privacy invaded, because at the end of the day you get to where I’m at now and you have no blooming privacy.

“All that goes out the window, and now I’m in a fight.”
