Three men have been arrested for allegedly consorting with members of an outlaw motorcycle gang in Cairns.

Police have charged three people as part of an operation targeting members and associates of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang in Cairns after detectives executed search warrants in properties in Brinsmead, Edmonton, Mount Sheridan and Kewarra Beach on November 2.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace from the Far North Major and Organised Crime Squad said police will be continuing to target the Mongols in Cairns.

Police allegedly seized a number of electronic devices, containing images of Mongols Cairns City Chapter Members wearing branded clothing.

“Our operations is to target members of OMCGs and associates, and disrupt the illegal, anti-social and violent behaviours associated with them,” Sergeant Grace said.

“Outlaw motorcycle gangs are not welcome in the Far North, and we will not tolerate any behaviour that causes fear and harm in our community.”

Operation Victor Jenga commenced in August 2023 to disrupt, gather intelligence and conduct enforcement actions in relation to OMCG activities and associates.

A 35-year-old Speewah man was charged with one count of habitually consorting with recognised offenders, and three counts of breach of bail.

A 30-year-old Edmonton man was charged with four counts of breach of bail.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 4.

A 31-year-old Mount Sheridan man was charged with one count of habitually consorting with recognised offenders and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 18.
