MAJOR land lease developer Serenitas will launch Thyme Lifestyle Resort in Mareeba on October 15, having acquired the Savannah retirement village on Anzac Ave.
Serenitas has 25 villages for over-50s, with Thyme Lifestyle Resorts at Hervey Bay, Evans Head, Moreton Bay, and sites at Forster on the mid north coast of NSW and Canungra in south-east Queensland under development.
It is offering two-bedroom homes from $442,000 in a pet-friendly gated community with resort facilities, with no entry or exit fees – and homes with RV garages.
Company spokesman Andrew Watkins said Serenitas viewed Mareeba as a prime location and a great opportunity.
“By adopting the Thyme branding we are recognising the resort grade amenity and categorising the village as one of our flagship communities,” Mr Watkins said.
“With this comes a commitment to significant additional investment.
“As a location we saw the benefits of Mareeba’s comparatively low rainfall and humidity, acknowledging why many consider it as Far North Queensland’s best climate,” he said.
“Many of our homeowners have existing links with the area, some have lived in the Tablelands their whole life while others are returning home or looking to move closer to family.”
He said upgrades completed already included a new statement entrance, an upgraded sales building and a refit of the exiting gym and consult room.
Work on a clubhouse, furniture refit and landscaping revamp will start this year.
Further planned upgrades will begin in late 2022, including a full clubhouse and furniture refit and major landscaping reworks.
Mr Watkins said new display homes had been well received.
“The first of these have already sold, however we have a number of additional homes becoming available for occupation in coming months,” he said.
He said there would eventually be 170 home sites.
Serenitas is a joint venture between Tasman Capital Partners, an Australian-owned and focused private equity firm, and GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund.
