Riders in two separate crashes rushed to Cairns Hospital

Two riders in separate incidents have been rushed to hospital after crashing motorcycles. And a man has been injured in a late night incident after stacking a tinnie into sandbar.

A RIDER has been flown to hospital by the rescue helicopter after crashing a motorcycle on a winding mountain road north of Cairns.

At 9.30am emergency services received a call for assistance after a man crashed his motorcycle on the Mulligan Highway at Desailly.

The crash is understood to have happened just south of Bobs Lookout.

The road was closed to all traffic and reopened after the crash site was cleared at 11.45am, a police spokeswoman said.

The rider in his 60s was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition suffering a chest injury.

In a separate motorcycle crash, at 10.43am a 13-year-old boy was taken to Cairns Hospital with head injuries after crashing a motocross bike on Speedway Rd in Edmonton.

Overnight, a man in his 20s was hospitalised after a small boat incident in Cardwell.

Paramedics drove the man to Ingham Hospital in a stable condition after he crashed a tinnie into a sandbar at 11.44pm on Friday night.

The man was treated for facial injuries.
