LOCAL shoppers at Rusty’s Markets will notice a huge absence next year when a husband and wife duo retire after three decades.

Both Narella and Miguel Antequera will say goodbye to Rusty’s on Christmas Eve after over 30 years at their fruit stall.

Ms Antequera said it was time to retire but she would miss her customers the most.

“We’ve made a lot of friends, I will miss a lot of my customers, they are like family to me,” she said.

“It is hard to say goodbye but I said we will meet up like we will come down, we will probably supply some people with lemons and limes and come for a coffee and see some people.”

Ms Antequera said she looks forward to doing things she wasn’t able to do when they had the market stall.

“We are not holiday people so we will just plod along on the farm and garden and catch up on some of the work that we haven’t done because all of our time was tied up in the markets,” she said.
