A REPEAT stalking offender with a six-page criminal history who developed an inappropriate sexual fixation with his parole officer has been jailed for “disgusting” acts of an erotic nature.
Jordan Lloyd Harrison, 29, pleaded guilty to unlawful stalking a Corrective Services officer.
Police prosecutor Sgt Trevor Woodman told the Cairns Magistrates Court Harrison sent a series of texts his parole officer on January 21.
“The defendant replied on a text message to the victim’s phone saying ‘yes BBC in your mouth winking face, emoji’,” Sgt Woodman said.
“She felt disgusted in receiving this message. She was offended because she felt that he was focused on her in a sexualised way.”
At a disciplinary interview Harrison was told the behaviour would not be tolerated.
But on April 30 Harrison rang his parole officer and began heavy breathing, the court heard.
“(The officer) believed given the tone of his voice and his language that he was busy masturbating on the other end of the phone,” Sgt Woodman said.
Acting for Harrison lawyer James Ellis-Smith said his client’s actions were not malicious and not intended to intimidate.
“It’s certainly not a prolonged, malicious (and) protracted offending,” he told the court.
Mr Ellis-Smith said Harrison was the father of a seven-year-old boy and the defendant was motivated to address his substance misuse problem and become a better dad.
Harrison also pleaded guilty to breaching a probation order after he failed to engage with QuIHN Cairns.
In sentencing Magistrate Terence Browne recorded a conviction but did not further punish Harrison on the breach probation charge based on the defendant having spent 23 days in pre-sentence custody.
For the fresh stalking charge Magistrate Browne jailed Harrison for 12 months to be served concurrently with another five stalking charges.
Harrison will be released on parole on October 6 and was restrained from contacting his parole officer for two years.
