Cairns crashes: Man in his 40s seriously injured as paramedics rushed to six separate accidents

A motorcyclist was flown to hospital during a chaotic day with paramedics responding to six separate crashes across the Far North on Saturday and two on Sunday.

A MAN has been seriously injured after a motorcycle crash off the Mulligan Highway during a chaotic day with paramedics rushing to six separate crashes.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said a patient has been flown to Cairns Hospital in a serious condition after the crash at Mount Carbine just before midday on Saturday.

The 48-year-old man received serious head, chest and shoulder injuries.

A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service spokesman said he was in a stable condition at the hospital about 4pm.

Paramedics rushed to five other crashes in the space of six hours as out-of-control traffic caused delays across the region on Saturday and two on Sunday.

Fortunately there were no serious casualties in any of the other smashes.

El Arish crash

Nobody required hospital treatment after a single-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at El Arish at 4.46am on Saturday.

Eastbound traffic was blocked until the road was cleared about 6.30am.

Bike versus bike

A pair of cyclists were taken to Cairns Hospital with cuts and abrasions after crashing into each other on Maitland Rd in Gordonvale at 7.19am on Saturday.

Gillies Range crash

A crash on the Gillies Range Rd at Yungaburra about 4.30am on Saturday did not result in hospital treatment with no occupants at the scene by the time paramedics arrived.

The road was cleared by 7am.

Stable after smash

A patient was taken to Mareeba Hospital in a stable condition after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Byrnes and Rankin streets in Mareeba at 7.43am on Saturday.

Crash at home

Paramedics took one patient to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition after a single-vehicle crash at a home in Parramatta Park at 8.59am on Saturday.

Elderly bicycle crash

A man in his 80s was taken to Cairns Hospital with facial injuries after a crash involving a bicycle and a car on Old Smithfield Rd in Freshwater at 7.58am on Sunday.

Parramatta Park multi-vehicle crash

PARAMEDICS took a patient to hospital in a stable condition after a multi-vehicle crash on the corner of Martin Street and Mulgrave Road in Parramatta Park about 3:30pm on Sunday.
