DELICIOUS traditional alfajores are the specialty of a new Edge Hill cafe with an Argentinian twist.
Argentinian native Micaela Lukac has opened Mucho Love on Pease St and said alfajores were traditional biscuits with a caramel middle.
The sweet treats are made with almonds, honey and spices, and have been adapted in Spain and in France to the macaron.
“We are still very brand new, but everyone seems very happy with the food and loves the coffee,” Ms Lukac said.
The cafe offers the Peruvian Inka coffee, which is roasted locally.
“It is definitely a tricky time to open a new cafe, but I thought we just have to do try and do our best and get support from locals as we don’t have as many tourists at the moment and it is a tough time with lots of people in quarantine as well,” she said.
“I hope people can escape and be somewhere happy, we want to live up to our name share the love and a little bit of our culture.”
Ms Lukac said it was a family-oriented cafe across the road from Edge Hill State School and had two outdoor dog-friendly areas.
“We want to put a bike rack in soon, and because I am concerned about decreasing plants that are butterfly food, we have the host plant for several butterflies at our shop,” she said.
Mucho Love is open Monday to Friday 6am to 3.30pm, Saturday 6.30am to 3pm and Sunday from 7.30am to 1pm.
