Victoria Police charge man after alleged sexual assault of child in a Westfield Shopping Centre

A man has been charged after allegedly walking behind a young girl and squeezing her backside before returning later to do the same thing.

A man has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in a Melbourne shopping centre.

Victoria Police will allege the girl was inside a store at Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren with family and friends when an unknown man walked past and allegedly grabbed her backside about 6.55pm on April 21.

Police allege the man repeated the behaviour again a short time later before leaving the store.

The girl told one of the adults with her what had occurred and the alleged incident was reported to shopping centre security but the man was unable to be located.

A 25-year-old Warragul man has since been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 16, one count of sexual assault, two counts of stalking and five counts of commit indictable offence while on bail.

He is expected to appear before in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
