Brisbane Roar have twice won five consecutive A-League matches in a season, and on both occasions, they were crowned champions.

And while the current Roar side is yet to prove they are of the same ilk as the team that clinched the 2011 and 2012 titles, confidence is high in a Brisbane squad attempting win a fifth straight A-League game when they host Macarthur FC at Dolphin Stadium on Tuesday night.

“We’re flying,” Roar left back Corey Brown said.

“We’re looking for that fifth win ... there’s a great feeling at the club.

“Everyone’s got a lot of confidence, there’s a lot of smiles which comes with winning, so hopefully we can keep it going.”

Despite the growing belief in the Roar camp, Brown echoed coach Warren Moon’s “one game at a time” sentiments following Brisbane’s 5-2 weekend thrashing of Melbourne Victory.

“It’s not in our nature as a club or players to get ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“We’ve got really good senior players. Players like Scotty McDonald, Tom Aldred, Jay O’Shea ... they’ve very experienced players, they’ve been around the traps, they’ve been in winning sides, so any complacency is very quickly nipped in the bud.”

Two of the Roar’s four straight wins have come at their new home “fortress”.

While Brown loved the club’s former home ground, Australia’s best rectangular football venue Suncorp Stadium, he has enjoyed the switch to the smaller Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe.

“The atmosphere has been unreal and we’ve played some great football there. It’s buzzing there,” he said.

“You saw on the weekend how hot it was for the Victory. We blew them away in the first 20 minutes.

“That’s an advantage we’ve had all the time in Queensland but you probably feel that heat a bit more out of Redcliffe. At Suncorp Stadium there’s a little bit more shade from the big stands.

“We can use it even more to our advantage.”

While the sun won’t be an issue on Tuesday night, likely humid conditions should again play into Brisbane’s hands against a Macarthur side also backing up from a match on Saturday when they drew 2-2 with Western Sydney Wanderers at Campbelltown Stadium.

A win over the competition newcomers – who have eight points from six matches – will return Roar to the top of table on goal difference ahead of the Central Coast Mariners.

“They’re a new challenge for us but something we’re very much looking forward to,” Brown said.
