Two men were arrested following an altercation with security guards at the MCG last night.
Police and venue security were called to M23 in the AFL members’ section after a scuffle broke out between two patrons and security guards, following the final siren of the Collingwood-Hawthorn game.
It is understood the altercation was sparked after one of the men was smoking inside the ground, which is prohibited.
When asked to put out the cigarette, one of the men allegedly assaulted a security guard.
Two men, aged 23 and 29, were detained by security at the scene. The male security guard has been treated for injuries.
In footage obtained by the Sunday Herald Sun, the duo was seen arguing as police and security forcibly held them away.
A cuffed male could be seen squirming on his belly on the floor while shouting.
Victoria Police confirmed the arrests, with a spokesman saying: “It is believed an altercation took place after one of the men was spoken to by security staff for smoking within the stadium.

“The altercation escalated resulting in a security guard being assaulted.”
Police spoke to both men who were later released, and are expected to be charged on summons with unlawful assault.
The incident comes after a spike in footy fights, including a brawl where one man was punched in the face following the Dreamtime at the G’ match between Essendon and Richmond.
The MCC and the AFL have declined to comment, saying it is a matter for Victoria Police.
