Two “big kids” have personally tested some of the equipment at a new Red Centre adventure park ahead of the grand opening, which is set to be a free event.

Construction has wrapped up on the new Alice Springs Adventure Park, located next to the aquatic centre on Speed St.

Alice Springs Town Council Mayor Matt Paterson invited a special guest for a sneak peek of the park: Federal Minister for Indigenous Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy.

The duo had a blast at the new park, and tried out the new swings.

The park is set to open to the public Saturday November 2.

“The Adventure Park facility truly is incredible, I can’t wait for the community to get to experience it first-hand,” Mr Paterson said.

“This council has made improving liveability in Alice Springs our top priority, and the Adventure Park is such a big investment toward that.

“It has something for kids of all ages, even us big kids,” he said.

Costing $1.2 million to build, a majority of funding came from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, with the Territory and federal governments also chipping in.

The council will host a free barbecue as well as family activities on the free open day.

Entry fees to the park will be $15 for adults as part of the aquatic centre entry fees.

Mini golf pricing is an extra $10 on top of entry.
