LOVE LOCKED
Erin Holland was excited about moving into her new pad, her first joint investment with fiancé cricketer Ben Cutting. But on her final night in her old apartment, while taking the rubbish out to the bin at 11pm in her dressing gown, the model and presenter managed to lock herself out of her house. “As it was late, I was literally just in my comfy bathrobe and PJ top,’’ she laughs. “No pants, no phone, no shoes. Helpless!” She didn’t want to wake up her lovely neighbours, given the hour, so she roamed the streets to find a stranger who would lend her a phone. “Two young men were kind enough to lend me theirs to the shoeless, crazy, crying lady in the purple Barney the dinosaur-esque robe,’’ she says. “I called a locksmith and 60 minutes plus a hefty call out fee later I was back in. What a send off from the old place.’’ Holland and Cutting are doing long-distance between Brisbane and Sydney, with the borders closures forcing them to quarantine before a catch up.

WONDER WOMAN
It seems the last few weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for former Miss Universe Australia Erin McNaught. One day she’s being shouted down by hardened ex-SAS soldiers and the next she’s working on her tan poolside. Spotted recovering in Darwin this week after filming Channel 7’s upcoming reality series SAS: Australia in the Snowy Mountains, the model/influencer this week shared her insta post of her bruises from a nasty helicopter fall. McNaughty’s chill down at the harbour-based hotel began badly with a fire alarm causing her to evacuate the property her very first night. However, things seemed to improve significantly the following day as she appeared poolside with UK rapper husband Example and their two young sons who had flown in from Brisbane that morning. A-list’s source, who happened to be on the sunlounger beside the family, said McNaught was effusively regaling her hubby with how gruelling the show’s filming had been. So scintillating was the conversation that our eavesdropper ditched the book she was reading. Clearly addicted to an adrenaline rush, the adventurous McNaught later posted a pic of herself swimming with a massive croc. You go, girl!
FASHION
Fashionistas rejoice! Brisbane Fashion Month will return this October, with smaller crowds, lots of hand sanitiser, and a new digital twist for opening night. COVID may have put a stop to some of Queensland’s favourite fashion events, but Brisbane Fashion Month director Laura Churchill has confirmed the 2020 shows will go on, kicking off with a with a digital runway which will be pre-recorded in the Museum of Brisbane gallery. Another highlight will be the art + fashion forum at Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct on 24 October which will feature Alison Kubler in conversation with Christie Nicolaides and Lydia Pearson (for Shilo + Lydia) discussing the influence of art in fashion. “It’s been an incredibly challenging year but we’re full of optimism and can’t wait to show our audience what we’ve been working to put together,” Churchill said. “The festival is as varied as ever with runway shows and a lot more and although it will look a little different this year with a lot of smaller-scale events than we would normally run, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate and support the incredible talent Brisbane has to offer.” Tickets on sale this Friday.
SELFIE HOTSPOT
Sirromet Winery is helping cure our wanderlust blues with its picturesque lavender field, and just like it’s counterparts in France the field, with its neat rows of softly-scented blooms, ‘Lavender Hill’ has become a hotspot for selfie-seeking Instagrammers and professional photo shoots, as people flock to get their Provence fix without needing their passport. And trust us, it’s hard not to be happy and relaxed when you’re swanning about between rows of lavender.
CHOC COLLAB
Her exquisite pieces adorn A-list celebrities and this week Australian avant-garde jewellery designer Chelsea De Luca dropped a hint that she has something new coming soon. De Luca, who grew up on a banana plantation in Tully, far north Queensland, has been dropping teasers- including one taste testing chocolate – about an exciting new collaboration on her Instagram account. “As difficult as the last few months have been for many, as a business we have had the good fortune to connect with some amazing people … I have met a passionate artisan and we have since formed a long distance working relationship. We are launching in Spring and really looking forward to a spreading a little joy.” If there’s chocolate, beautiful jewels and joy involved, sign us up!
