THE SCOOP

BOMBSHELL

It dropped like a bomb on Tuesday and was the week’s biggest ‘have you heard’ story around town. Causing a tsunami of phone calls, texts, WhatsApp messages and sympathy on social media was the shock announcement that 10 News First’s Brisbane-based bulletin will cease next month with the 5pm bulletin to be streamed from Sydney and presented by Sandra Sully and Matt Burke. The reaction was immediate and the message clear: that popular news presenter Georgina Lewis and golden boy weatherman Josh Holt have a legion of fans, with the well-loved pair inundated with messages of support since the announcement. Though unavailable for comment, Lewis, who has been with the network for 21 years, thanked everyone for their kind messages. The pair’s last bulletin is expected to be September 11.

DRESSED TO IMPRESSED

Blue and green should never be seen … unless Osher’s in between!

For the second year running, Osher Günsberg’s eye-catching ensembles on The Masked Singer have been created by Brisbane tailor Mark Ferguson.

Last year Ferguson, the designer of bespoke fashion label Wil Valor, had just three weeks to design and create 10 ‘bold and loud’ suits for Günsberg to wear on the premiere season of the reality TV show - they were such a hit, he returned to Wil Valor for his Season 2 wardrobe.

Ferguson spent five months working closely alongside Günsberg’s stylist, Mel Byrne, on this year’s stand out collection to meet the reality show host’s vision, with COVID-19 providing an extra level of difficulty when it came to fittings.

“Osher has been working out and when people do a lot of push-ups and work out, their body shape changes. Because we couldn’t do a fitting we made a sample suit to make sure his measurements were the same as last year, but they weren’t so we adjusted from there using measurements and photos,” he said.

Ferguson sourced fabrics from around the globe to create the bold suits.

“We searched high and low for these fabrics and people will soon see that they’re pretty bold,” adding that his favourite ensemble is a blue and pink suit that’s yet to air.

“It’s a fine line between stylish and gaudy but I think we’ve kept it stylish.”

THE NUDE LUNCH

Celebs around the country will be stripping down to their smalls to help raise funds for ovarian cancer. As if the name of the popular annual Mackay event, the Nude Lunch, wasn’t attention-getting enough, now the organisers have come out with their own knickers and jocks, sending them to big names around Oz to slip on and post to their social. It’s a sure-fire way to get exposure (literally!) and to promote the virtual event to be hosted by Sunrise reporter Bianca Stone and streamed on Facebook Live on October 10. Loving her new undies and saying how “comfy” they are, Channel 7’s Liz Cantor politely declined A-list’s request for a pic of herself in them them saying, “As a mum of two, I’m trying not to embarrass my kids more than absolutely necessary.” To purchase a pair and event details, visit nudelunch.com.au

BEN’S BEDROOM TALENT

Turns out Australian Ninja Warrior winner Ben Polson isn’t just a star on the ninja course but also in the bedroom. It came to A-List’s attention during the week that the Brisbane-based videographer has a special skill in the boudoir that keeps his missus, fellow ninja competitor Olivia Vivian, a very happy lass. Due to his extremely long arms, when it comes time to put fresh sheets on the bed, he is able to perform the often painful task on his own with just one expert swoop of the top sheet that always falls exactly in place. How crazy has this week been for him since taking out the $400k prize on Monday? “On Tuesday, I had an interview every ten minutes for five hours!”. Both Polson and Vivian are back tonight for the Australian Ninja Warrior State of Origin special at 7pm on Nine.

Fans of New Farm-based fashion boutique SFH Designs were treated to an eye-popping parade of designer Sarah Hutson’s vibrant Spring 2020 collection outside her pop-up boutique at Brisbane Quarter. Entitled SFH in the CITY, the range was a solid hit with the attending fashionistas who couldn’t get into the shop fast enough to snap up must-have items and hit the fab DIY Embellishment Bar for denim jackets. Guests included style mavens Dale Olsson, Mel Wallace and Leanne Zimmerman.

GUESS WHO DON’T SUE

A well-known SEQ glamourpuss of a certain age got a bit of a jolt during the week as she was watching television with her new beau. Word has it, they were cuddling up checking out a new primetime drama when suddenly a very hunky actor appeared on the screen causing said woman, who is a fixture on the social scene, to let out a very audible gasp. With her new man questioning what was wrong she was forced to come up with a believable response. Hiccups? The real cause of the dramatic intake of breath: The extremely handsome actor who is in his late 30’s was someone she recognised from a very hot and steamy one-night stand over fifteen years ago when he would have been in his very early 20’s, at least 25 years younger than her well-preserved self. Glamourpussy had met the young Gold Coast actor at a modeling agency’s Christmas party and had not laid eyes on him since the hottie and his snakeskin boots strut out of her bedroom.
