PLAN B FOR BIRTHDAY

It was set to be Kendall Gilding’s dream 30th birthday celebration, sailing on Sydney Harbour with 10 of her closest friends, but a little thing called a global pandemic got in the way. So the Seven News presenter has had to revise planned festivities for September 30. Staying closer to home, Gilding has opted for a more intimate celebration with husband Tim Morgan and two of their best friends, with the two couples set to hit the road south to Springbrook at the Gold Coast Hinterland where they’ll stay in a designer cabin perched on the edge of a gorge boasting magnificent views. The couple celebrates another milestone today, daughter Olive’s first birthday, with a backyard party for family at their northside Brisbane home.

RUNAWAY SUCCESS

Queensland earring queen Rene Skelton of Concrete Jellyfish this week launched a 14-piece jewellery collection in collaboration with contemporary indigenous artist Rachael Sarra. It’s the third time the duo have partnered up, with Rachael’s stories woven into Skelton’s handcrafted accessories. The handmade Concrete Jellyfish x Rachael Sarra collection - ranging in price from $25 to $150 per pair - launched on Thursday night, and sold out in an extraordinary 10 minutes. The pair say they were absolutely blown away by the response and are planning another run in January.

BIN CHECKING YOU OUT

COVID may have stopped their sell-out soirees for now, but Brissie sisters Chloe Rowe and Kate Russell still found success with their latest Jericho Road Clothing collection - Bin Checkin’ You Out - which launched last week. Featuring embroidered ibis (aka the bin chicken) on a bright check background, the three piece collection has already been a huge hit with the brand’s loyal followers. “The bin chicken is a love/hate animal so we knew it could go either way,” Kate laughed, “but the coloured check is quite cheerful and people are loving it.” The sisters’ humble bin chicken is now winging it’s way across the country. “We had a Brisbane girl now living in Melbourne, in lockdown, write to us saying she needed something to cheer her up and remind her of home,’’ she says.

BE GRATEFUL

Supermodel Miranda Kerr has revealed the secret to a positive mindset and you can pick one up from Kmart for as little as $5. On last week’s episode of makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Happy Hour, the former Brisbane gal shared her beauty secrets, favourite recipes and advice on body confidence, along with how she starts each day writing in a gratitude journal. “One thing I find really helpful is a gratitude journal, when my husband wakes up at 5.30 in the morning - it’s my time. This is the time I write in my journal three things I am grateful for,” Kerr told Tilbury. The former All Hallows’ schoolgirl also dropped a new line - Miranda Kerr Home - this week in conjunction with US online retailer One Kings Lane. The 47-piece collection will set you back a pretty penny with prices starting at $US550 for a small accent mirror “ideal for filling awkward spaces”.
