James Courtney reflects on his career to date

While James Courtney and Kyly Clarke are yet to publicly confirm their split, it seems the V8 Supercar driver is already looking to move on.

Confidential spies spotted Courtney on exclusive dating app, Raya, last weekend, at the same time that rumours of his split from Clarke surfaced.

Friends cited distance for the break-up, which reportedly happened about two weeks ago, with Clarke based in Sydney and Courtney on the Gold Coast.

Raya is a discreet invite-only dating app connecting the rich and famous around the world, with Shane Warne and Olympia Valance among the previous users.

Courtney and Clarke, the ex-wife of cricketer Michael Clarke, made their couple debut at the Bathurst V8 Supercars round in late October, when the TV presenter and interior designer was snapped in pit lane.

The celebrity pair later confirmed the romance, posting loved-up photos to their Instagram accounts with the nickname “Jaly”, but are yet to comment on the split.

Courtney had previously been dating marketing manager Alexandra Elms, who had relocated from Melbourne to the Gold Coast in early 2019 to live with him and his two children from a previous marriage.

Sources in the racing community claim Elms moved out of Courtney’s Gold Coast home in the week leading up to the Bathurst event that Clarke attended.

In June, Courtney said Elms had been “absolutely amazing” in shifting her life north and that he was “in love again”.

COVID SEA-CHANGE

Former Nova presenter Jack Tree was inspired by his redundancy to go on the ultimate Australian adventure, buying a bus and travelling around the country with his girlfriend.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on radio, Nova decided to syndicate workday programming from Sydney, meaning Brisbane day time announcers Tree and Katie Mattin were made redundant in September.

After a few days of mulling over their options, Tree’s girlfriend Tracey Perciasepe decided to leave her corporate job behind and the couple, both 26, moved into a newly-purchased yellow Mazda T3500 bus.

“It was a bummer because I loved the job I was doing but at the same time we knew we had this plan brewing,” Tree, a former drummer for Amy Shark, said on podcast The Van Life Series.

“More of my friends are buying the house and that’s super cool … but do I want to look back on when I was only 26 and think, ‘Oh we could have gone on a sweet adventure around the country, but we bought a house’?”

Perciasepe, who relocated from Canada two years ago, added: “It’s about knowing what will make you the happiest and for us it was having this adventure.”

The couple are sharing their journey on Instagram account It’s Life Let’s Live and have so far travelled up to Rockhampton and down into northern NSW, recently getting invited to an 85-year-old’s birthday party in Mullumbimby.

They met when they were both backpacking solo through Thailand at 21, when Perciasepe was completing a scavenger hunt that involved kissing a stranger and spotted Tree, who was working as a tour guide after running out of cash.

“She just walked up to me with a free kiss sign and I thought ‘well OK’,” Tree laughed, adding he took her to dinner the following night. “I spent all of the little Thai money I had on this restaurant that I could not afford.”

With the whirlwind 24 hours staying with them, they decided to meet in Hawaii years later for a holiday, fell madly in love and dated long distance for one year until Perciasepe could afford to move to Queensland.

LUXURY AMBITIONS

It seems Australian tennis bad boy Bernard Tomic might be looking to add to his luxury lifestyle.

The 28-year-old recently visited Marina Mirage on the Gold Coast’s Main Beach, where Confidential spies spotting him browsing the boats listed for sale in the window of the local branch.

He was joined by new girlfriend, Love Island contestant turned OnlyFans star Vanessa Sierra.

Tomic reportedly snapped up his Surfers Paradise mansion for $3 million in 2015.

He wasn’t the only star to visit the luxury Gold Coast precinct, with a film crew for Young Rock filming scenes for the NBC comedy series about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s younger years inside the Marina Mirage shopping centre on Monday.

They also took over the carpark next to the neighbouring Sheraton Mirage Resort that afternoon where cast members in 1980s party outfits were spotted on set.

FLASH SALE

Sisters Amy and Emma Sheppard are known for their statement fashion on stage, performing with Brisbane band Sheppard, and are long supporters of local labels such as White Label Noba.

So it’s little surprise that their wardrobes are bursting at the seams and the sisters are now looking for new homes for some of their designer favourites.

They are hosting a pop-up clothing sale at No. 68 cafe in Newstead from 9am to 3pm on Saturday.

Bargain-hunting fashionistas will be able to pick up shoes, statement jewellery and plenty of clothing, ranging in size from 8 to 20, including a few pieces by Australian favourite, Aje.

SUSIE’S MISSION

Susie O’Neill is giving back to a local cause close to her heart.

The Queensland swimming champion turned Nova 106.9 breakfast host is being announced tomorrow as an ambassador for Helena’s House – a place where teenagers and young people living with disabilities can live together, build friendships and get support.

The project is organised by BestLife and named after team member Helena McIlwain, a passionate supporter for the cause who died suddenly late last year of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage in the lungs, at 19.

Having known McIlwain personally, O’Neill has linked with the organisation to help continue her passion of helping children living with disabilities.

EVENT OF THE WEEK

Brisbane designer Tracey Watkins of cult local favourite White Label Noba toasted to 10 years in fashion on Thursday morning by hosting a morning tea at her Hawthorne store. She was joined by Brisbane fashion movers and shakers, high profile friends of the brand and special guest, Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner.
