When frank green launched their new Car Cup Holder Expander, it was hailed as a total game-changer. A revolutionary accessory, if you like, because now it meant you could finally fit your giant-sized water bottle in the cup holder section of your car for an extra 20 bucks. 

As the brand explained, it was designed "over many years" and came after customers begged for a solution to fitting their bottles in their vehicle. 

People who didn't manage their own savvy hack using a piece of PVC pipe from Bunnings were thrilled with the news and the holders quickly sold out.

Now, almost five months after the holder was introduced to the range, customers are hitting social media to express their frustration over the 'game-changing' accessory.

Some unhappy people have deemed the new item an epic fail because the bottle actually becomes stuck to the cup holder, meaning it literally goes everywhere with you. Not just for the car ride!

TikToker @jess_says0 took to social media recently to share how frustrated she was with the holder. 

“Call me crazy but this frank green cup holder is a bit of a fail,” she captioned the funny video.

The footage shows how easily the bottle gets jammed into the holder with her unable to separate the two. 

“They spent 2 years on this cup holder for my cup to get stuck and unintentionally be dragged everywhere with me instead of my piece of pipe that does its job."

The frustrated customer then follows up her video with another hilarious moment on the train, showing how the cup holder was still attached to her bottle. 

“Gets on the train and look what comes with me. My stupid cup holder [that’s] meant to be in my car,” she vents. 

Yes, but WHAT a fashion statement!

The video had other customers in stitches. 

“HAHAHAHAHAHA” one person commented.

But she wasn't the only one who experienced the fail. Other customers also chimed in saying the same thing has happened to them. 

“Yeppppp. Mine does this too! So annoying," a frustrated customer shared.

“Agree!” another added.

Others were recommending a rival product by smaller company Willy and Bear.

“@WillyandBear are the way to go! They don’t move when you pick up your bottle!” one person said. 

And another echoed: “Willy and bear are the best!”

But for those experiencing the problem, someone suggested a handy way around it: "I would find a way to stick it down to the car cup holder so it doesn’t get taken with the bottle when you pick it up," they said.
