Taste test of Australia’s hottest burger – the Scorpion Death Wish at Burger Urge

When a burger arrives with a waiver, protection gear and a roasted scorpion, you know it’s going to be hot … if only I knew how hot. WATCH THE FLAMING HOT VIDEO

'F*********!!!': Tasting Australia's hottest burger in Brisbane

With gloves and eye protection on, and a waiver signed, I took my first bite. Instantly, my mouth was engulfed in a blaze of heat, I screamed f****kkkk!

This is what it’s like to eat Australia’s hottest burger ever.

The “Scorpion Death Wish” burger certainly lived up to its name, but you will need to sign a waiver and wear full PPE gear to get your hands on it.

Fair dinkum. It was hotter than a devil’s armpit.

Sitting atop the crown of the burger is a well seasoned roasted scorpion, a bold declaration of the spicy journey that awaited me.

As someone who passionately loves food, every meal counts to me. And today I sacrificed my tastebuds and put my manhood on the line to try out this tantalising feast.

Measuring a scorching 1.5 million units on the Scoville scale, the Trinidad Moruga scorpion chilli ranks among the hottest on earth.

Pairing that with a “potent” dusting powder which added another near 300,000 units to the burger, making it the perfect recipe to be crowned the nation’s hottest burger.

The Asian Rainforest Scorpion (Heterometrus spinifer), required Federal Government clearance to cross international borders and has never before been consumed in Australia before.

Due to their exotic and rare nature, less than 20 scorpion-crowned burgers per store will be available for meal masochists looking for a spicy adventure.

The Trinidad Moruga sauce delivered a fiery punch that made my eyes water and my forehead break out in a sweat. Each bite after intensified the heat, with a relentless wave of spice that seemed to scorch every inch of my mouth.

But despite the unrelenting heat, the flavours were surprisingly complex … The scorpion itself was crispy and flavourful, adding a unique hint of exoticism to the experience.

Not recommended to my worst enemy.

This flaming hot challenge starts on Saturday at all participating Burger Urge stores.
