For some, it was a reminder to keep writing those sweet notes. For others, the handwriting had them questioning if the video was genuine.

A mum has the internet bawling after sharing a video of the sweet moment she found a bunch of old lunch box notes her partner wrote for their children.

Mum-of-three Sabrina (aka @sabrina_matata) shared a video of all the heartfelt messages written on various sticky notes.

"When you find all the lunch notes your kids kept from their dad," she captioned the montage.

The video begins with a shot of Sabrina crying into her hands, followed by shots of the notes spread out across tables in their home.

"Why am I crying 😭," she writes.

The adorable lunch notes the kids kept

It's not really that hard to see why there are tears.

It's an adorable gesture that we know our children love to receive when they're away from home - whether it be at school for the day or a school camp overnight.

For Sabrina's partner, they were mostly messages expressing how much he loves them and how proud he is to be their dad.

"You make us soo proud. I love being your dad!" one message reads.

"You are amazing. You are the coolest 8yr old I know. Love you," another one says.

And there were also themed notes for events such as birthdays and Valentine's Day.

"Even though Valentine's Day is over. You will always be my valentine."

While each handwritten note had a different message, they all signed off with the proud dad's signature smiley face.

Parents are in love with the gesture

Many parents loved the sweet gesture - and the fact that the little ones had actually been holding on to each note.

"Can I be adopted at 45 ❤️," one person commented on the Instagram post.

"I just bawled my eyes out so so cute!" another wrote.

And another chimed in: "This is truly priceless and everything!! What an amazing father."

Others felt nostalgic watching the video, remembering what their own parents did for them growing up and how much they also appreciated it.

"That’s awesome! My mum did that when we were younger!" someone shared.

And another shared: "My mum was the one who made our lunches and she used to do the same thing. My favourite was when she drew goody faces on my bananas 😂😂😂."

Someone loved her own dad's smiley faces so much, she went one step further with the sweet memory: "I got my dad's smiley face he draws on b'day cards tattooed on me ❤️."

People aren't convinced the dad wrote the notes

Of course, with anything shared on the Internet, with all the love came a little bit of hate.

Some people had questions about how genuine the video and notes were because apparently, the handwriting doesn't exactly look like a male's handwriting (whatever that's supposed to look like!)

"That isn’t a dad’s handwriting at all … but anything for content these days I suppose," one skeptic commented.

And another agreed: "That ain’t his handwriting sis LOL."

His handwriting or not, there is a lot of love online for the gesture of writing notes and packing them in school lunch boxes. If you don't do it already for your children, maybe it's time you started throwing one in every now and then? Imagine their happy little faces!
