What’s the secret to locking down a husband on the first date? One woman’s Pamela Anderson-inspired tactic has caused quite a stir on TikTok. Here’s what she suggests.

There are many ways to go about the dating scene, each inspired by our unique goals and intentions. Some people date for fun, looking to explore new connections, new cocktail bars and new conversations. 

Others chuck on the blinkers and charge towards a potential life partner with a level of determination only a wannabe bride can muster. For those in the latter category, a recent viral TikTok may hold the words of wisdom you’ve been waiting for.

Inspired by Pamela Anderson’s confession in her 2023 Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, 26-year-old Marina Neuman (@marinainmiami) has taken to TikTok with a groundbreaking suggestion for women looking to lock down a husband.

It’s all about honesty

Taking a page out of Anderson’s playbook, Neuman tells men she likes that she’ll ‘never marry them’, a somewhat unexpected thing for a woman openly on the hunt for a husband to say. 

“Pamela Anderson said that if you want to guarantee you're going to marry somebody, tell them that you'll never marry them and you'll be married in six months,” Neuman says in her TikTok video that now has over 1.2 million views. 

The Baywatch actress has long been a household name, known for her acting, provocative modelling work and tumultuous love life. But, while the 56-year-old star appears to be living her best single life currently, she has managed to convince five men to drop to the knee on six different occasions. 

So yeah, she knows a thing or two about how to get a ring.  

Putting the theory into her own practice, the Miami-based weather presenter details how she’s used the phrase on several men over the last few months.

“I tell the guys, ‘You're lovely, I've had a great time, but I'm really just looking to date for marriage at this point and I don't see this becoming something serious’,” she says. 

“Rejection does something to their brain,” adds Neuman, explaining that upon hearing this, most men only pursue her more. 

Breaking down the tactic

The behaviour provoked by this simple phase is essentially a perfect example of the power of reverse psychology. 

In fact, the logic behind Anderson and Neuman’s theory is reminiscent of the tactics people use to trick their toddlers into finishing dinner. ‘I don’t think you can finish all your dinner’ a parent might taunt, watching a pair of little fists shove two pieces of broccoli into their mouth with impressive speed. 

Similarly, we’ve all seen viral videos of cunning pet owners tricking their golden retrievers into taking their heart worm tablets by pretending to accidentally drop a treat.

To be clear, Neuman isn’t saying this phrase to men in an effort to emotionally manipulate them into pursuing her but rather is simply being honest about her intentions with certain individuals. In turn, she’s found her honesty only encourages these same men to try and prove her wrong, resulting in a pattern of behaviour she and countless followers say is all too common. 

“I've always known I didn't want marriage or children. I've always let guys know. I've been proposed to five times,” writes one person in the comments. 

Another chimes in saying she told her boyfriend early on in the relationship that no man would get more than one year of her time, “I had a ring two months later,” says the TikTok user.
