What’s claimed to be Australia’s premier male escort agency has expanded into Queensland ahead of its first anniversary, with plans to offer women experiences including romantic flights to the Whitsundays with a pilot who doubles as a gigolo.
Melbourne-based agency Her Confidant, which opened on Valentine’s Day last year, has hired two Gold Coast-based “elite” male escorts as it prepares to celebrate a year in business.
Owner Anna Grosman said a third escort, a pilot named “Hudson”, was planning to relocate from Sydney to Brisbane later this year.
Her Confidant offers experiences ranging from a $550-an-hour social date (minimum two hours) through to an “ultimate pleasure week” costing $21,500.
Ms Grosman, a 53-year-old mother of two adult sons and wife of a GP for 37 years, ran another male escort agency called Aphrodisiac from 2012 until 2018 with a business partner before deciding last year to strike out on her own.
She said she opened her first agency after identifying the need for women to have “a safe, discreet space where they could explore sex and intimacy and companionship without any judgement, and on their terms”.
She said clients including sexual assault victims and breast cancer survivors were having “life-changing experiences” with some of the “gorgeous” 20 male escorts on Her Confidant’s books.
Ms Grosman said most of the men were professionals who were selected through a strict vetting process including a preliminary questionnaire, face-to-face interviews, police and health checks and simulated bookings by female “triallers”.
“Safety is my No. 1 priority,” she said.
“My clients won’t use dating apps because of the dangers. I have 10 to 15 men emailing me for work so I sift through a lot of s..t.
“If the gentleman is in Melbourne, I have a face-to-face coffee meeting with him. I want to see how he talks, the way he dresses, the chivalry, the conversation … just to see exactly who he says he is on paper and that he wants to do this job for the right reasons.
“He also has to be at least 5ft10in (177.8cm) and preferably 6ft (182.88cm) and over because a lot of my clients want tall gentlemen.
“The men have to have full-time jobs as well – they must. Most of them are professional – they work in finance, medicine and law. You name them I’ve got them.
“It’s really important I work with professional gentlemen because that’s the level of quality that my clients deserve. I’m also working with women who are doctors, lawyers, running their own businesses or are high up in corporations.
“The men need to be well-educated, world-travelled with amazing life experiences and similar values to my clients.
“Everyone thinks they can do it but it’s a really difficult job – it’s not for everyone. The men that I work with see not just a body or a shape or an age; they see a human being who needs companionship and nurturing.
“Some women haven’t been held for years. A lot have been traumatised in really bad relationships and marriages or when they were young – raped, sexually and physically abused.
“You can imagine what’s happened in people’s lives and these women just want to be themselves and be seen for who they are. I’m very, very grateful to work with such gorgeous gentlemen.
“They form beautiful relationships with my clients as well; it’s sort of a friendship but obviously the clients know it’s transactional. I chose to work with these amazing, gorgeous men because they’re just really good-hearted and caring and compassionate and all those things that are so, so important to us as humans.”
Ms Grosman said her escorts included a Gold Coast-based “young Pierce Brosnan” lookalike and another named “Spencer” who was recently “trialled” by a woman in her 50s who had not been intimate since breast cancer surgery several years ago.
The couple also offered a small number of female escorts for “woman on woman” experiences, while the male escorts also serviced couples.
“The male escorts only service the women though, not the man – the men are all heterosexual,” she said.
Ms Gosman said Hudson would be Her Confidant’s third Queensland-based escort when he moved up from Sydney.
“We’re planning to offer packages where Hudson will fly clients to some of the Queensland resorts in a private four-seater plane,” she said.
“(It will be) ‘hands free’ (autopilot) for a couple of hours – you can imagine what can happen up in their air.
“It’s pretty cool to offer women these kinds of services where it’s just all about them having fun and enjoying a wonderful companion – for the company, for the intimacy, for everything.”
Ms Grosman said her family was “extremely supportive” of her risque venture.
“I know it’s the sex industry but it’s really about connecting two people,” she said.
“I’ve had a very healthy sex life with my husband and I just think everyone else should as well.
“It’s about allowing women this beautiful space where they can choose what they want to do with their bodies, when they want to do it, on their time and with their money.
“It’s all about women looking after themselves mentally, physically and emotionally, having fun, letting go of the stigma and shame around sex and living their best lives.”
