Inside My Wardrobe
Gritty Pretty founder Eleanor Pendleton, 32
Not only is she one of the most stylish, articulate and business savvy women in the industry, Eleanor Pendleton’s refreshing attitude towards parenthood and life is (dare I say it) positively influential.
Eleanor’s laid-back approach to fashion is less about convenience and more about confidence where it is clear her innate sense of style truly comes from within.
What does “style” mean to you?
One of my favourite quotes is by American writer, Gore Vidal. He once said, “Style is about knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn.”
How has your style changed over the years?
As I’ve grown older I am less influenced by trends but rather how comfortable – and confident – I feel in an outfit. I see hair styling and makeup as a part of self expression.
I continue to be naturally drawn to a neutral wardrobe – black, white and blue denim – but I am also finding a new-found confidence in wearing colour.
Who are your fashion icons?
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hailey Beiber, Viktoria Rader and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
A classic pair of Levi 501 blue jeans.
What are three beauty products you can’t currently live without?
Ultra Violette Supreme Screen SPF 50; MECCA Hydra Cheek Tint and Illuminating Balm Duo in Rose; Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum.
How important is jewellery to your everyday dressing routine/outfit?
I never feel complete without my wedding rings, a gold necklace and gold earrings.
What’s the most you have ever spent on an outfit or item of clothing?
Gucci Dionysus Black Velvet Bag ($3000)
What is the most surprising thing in your wardrobe?
An electric pink and blue Josh Goot dress. I can’t part with it because it was one of the first designer dresses I purchased when I was just starting my career in magazines.
Top three favourite fashion labels?
Australian: Zimmermann, Aje, Viktoria & Woods. International: Bottega, Toteme, The Row.
What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe and why?
My wedding dress – I just couldn’t part with my custom-made Pallas Couture gown.
What would you buy if money were no object?
I’ve always wanted a Chanel 2.55 black lambskin handbag.
What are your daily health and beauty essentials?
I love to start my day with The Beauty Chef Collagen Inner Beauty Boost in a glass of water. I never go a morning without micellar cleansing water, essence, antioxidant serum, eye cream, face moisturiser and SPF 50+.
What beauty trends are you looking forward to wearing this summer?
With Covid-19, we saw brands embrace a less is more approach when it comes to foundations – sheer make-up bases, tinted moisturisers and tinted sunscreens have exploded and I love it.
