SURROUNDED by rolling vineyards and breathtaking scenery, Rachel Loo and Michael Efendy tied the knot at Sirromet Wines at Mt Cotton.

The couple, of Windsor, in Brisbane’s north, worked with the Mt Cotton venue’s wedding co-ordinators to create their dream day.
Loved ones looked on as Rachel walked down the aisle through the grapevines to say her vows with Michael under a beautiful wooden arbour.
The newlyweds, who met working as doctors at Rockhampton Hospital, celebrated with a reception for 90 guests at Sirromet’s Restaurant Lurleen’s, with its breathtaking views of Moreton Bay.
Guests enjoyed a three-course meal starting with pork belly and a seafood tasting plate. Mains of angus steak, and salmon and prawn risotto, were followed by chocolate mousse, creme brulee and doughnuts on a handmade “doughnut wall” instead of wedding cake.
Rachel says Michael surprised her by popping the question when she returned home from work one day.
“The best thing about the day was being able to marry Michael, to be pronounced as husband and wife in the presence of our beloved family and friends from interstate and overseas,” she says. “It was about being showered with their love and support for this union and celebrating this special moment with them.”
Honeymoon? Malaysia and Indonesia.
First dance? Beauty and The Beast, by
John Legend and Ariana Grande.
What made this uniquely your wedding?
That we could gather our close family and friends from all around Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia to celebrate our joyous union in the presence of God.
Special memories?
The special moment was right before our ceremony when the sky cleared up. That weekend had a 90 per cent chance of storms and it had been raining all day prior. Thankfully, God was gracious and the sky cleared up.
Funny moments?
I think the moment I came to the realisation that it involves a whole village to help prepare for such an event – it is rather impossible to do
it yourself.
What would you have done differently?
To delegate tasks early on in the process and not to be stressed over small details, which take care of themselves on the day.
What would you spend more or less on?
I would spend more on a photographer/videographer. We omitted videography as Michael and I agreed that we won’t be watching the wedding video on loops, however there were certainly some precious moments that I wish had been captured, for example, my bridesmaids surprised us with a mashup of Disney songs.
