With a pink theme, glitter-clad acrobats, bubble machines, candy bar, doughnut wall and a waitress serving drinks from a dress made of champagne glasses, this couple turned the party up a notch for their wedding.
Bodybuilders Bec Harvey and Andrew Deasy tied the knot while the skies lit up with fireworks on Riverfire night last year, September 3, at Customs House on the Brisbane River.
The sparks weren’t just in the sky with their 120 guests treated to a performance by an acrobat at the reception, sweet treats from an all-pink candy bar and a doughnut wall.
About 3000 flowers covered the ceremony and reception.
The couple met in 2015 through Andrew’s gym, Granite Conditioning. “I went to his gym to ask him to be my bodybuilding coach for a natural bikini competition. I never knew that man would also one day be my husband.”
After five years together, the couple, who were from Brisbane’s southern suburbs but now live in Indonesia, wanted to come back to their home of Brisbane to celebrate their wedding. And celebrate they did.
Theme? I’m obsessed with pink and my husband said I could do whatever I wanted for the wedding so we had an all pink wedding!
Flowers were pink, bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses were pink, the serviettes were pink, and the doughnut wall and candy bar were completely pink and we had a neon sign saying Mr and Mrs Deasy in pink.
We had bubble machines directly after we walked down the aisle and during the moment we did the champagne tower. We had an amazing acrobat in a heart-shaped pedestal who performed after dinner. We also had pink smoke for our final couple photo.
How did you choose your wedding dress? We live in Indonesia now but our families are based in Australia and that’s where we wanted to get married.
I knew White Lily Couture would have the dresses I wanted so I asked if I could have a Zoom call and have someone around my size try on a variety of dresses so I could see how they looked.
I knew I wanted an Enzoani dress for sure and the Pronovias dress was just a dream and I had to have two completely different looks. I loved both.
Then I took my own measurements and sent them off.
Any unique details about your wedding? We are both natural bodybuilders so on our entrance to the reception we both did quarter turns, which is what you are required to do on stage when you are competing to compare muscularity and symmetry.
As our business is personal training and bodybuilding-focused a lot of our clients are bikini models. We had our clients in an archer pose for a team photo and had a photo booth with photo strips with our Granite Conditioning photo on the bottom.
We also had a boomerang photo booth which captured videos and is online for guests.
