This unfortunate incident involving a bridesmaid and groomsman has gone viral online after an epic entrance fail at a Brisbane wedding. WATCH THE VIDEO

Bridesmaid's viral wedding fail moment

They could have crossed paths so many times over the years. Noah Honeywill’s parents were both Grace Chesmond’s art teachers at her school, Somerville House in Brisbane, and one of Noah’s brothers used to work for Grace’s mum at a law firm.

Yet it was Tinder in February, 2017, that eventually connected Noah and Grace. The Stafford Heights couple started chatting online and, according to Grace, “the conversation didn’t get very far” but Noah had mentioned he ran live music venues.

A few days later, Grace was watching a band with some friends at The Brightside in Fortitude Valley and ran into Noah, who owns the venue. “It took us a while to speak but once we did, he brought over some free cocktails for my friends and I and asked for my number at the end of the night and that was that,” Grace says. Five years later, the couple tied the knot on April 29 this year at The Valley Estate in Currumbin Valley on the Gold Coast in front of 115 guests.

The stunning venue opened in May 2021 with four hectares of gardens, including a lake which the couple used as the backdrop for their ceremony. The party moved on into The Manor for the reception and a candid moment of their wedding went viral on TikTok.

During the bridal party’s entrance into the reception, a groomsman dipped the bridesmaid in what was supposed to be a fun dance move as they walked down a staircase. The bridesmaid hit her head on the banister of the stairs (thankfully no injuries) and a guest captured the moment. It has now more than two million views on TikTok.

Describe the proposal

Grace: Noah proposed on a holiday at Hamilton Island in February, 2021. Our birthdays are two days apart and because of Covid we hadn’t travelled in a while so we decided to do a birthday trip. A few days in we had the best day out on the reef doing a tour and had booked a beautiful Italian restaurant for dinner. We went and had some drinks before dinner before heading down to the restaurant.

When we got there we ordered a cocktail and Noah asked the waitress if she could take a sunset photo of us. While she was taking the photo I noticed he wasn’t standing next to me and looked down and he proposed there in front of the table at the water’s edge. It was very surreal and I didn’t see it coming at all. There was also a lot of people in the restaurant watching! But it was amazing. We got to enjoy the rest of the trip engaged, which was great.

What was the standout moment of the day?

Our entrance to the reception was definitely a standout moment. The Manor has a huge staircase that our bridal party entered from. We played the song Slice of Heaven and each couple entered doing a dance at the top of the staircase. By the time we entered, everyone was standing up and swinging around their napkins dancing. Our bridal party formed a tunnel and we ran through it and danced to our table. It was the best vibe to kick off the night!

What surprised you most about the day?

It was an even better day than we expected it to be. We were prepared for something to go wrong on the day but even in the middle of the horrendous weather event we were having, the rain cleared up for the four days over the long weekend. It was pretty perfect.

What would you do differently? Not much. The only thing might be hiring a stylist or
co-ordinator to help me prepare everything that wasn’t the responsibility of the venue prior to the wedding day. It was a bigger job than I expected.

What would you spend more or less on? Less on outfits that I didn’t end up wearing.

One thing you wish people had told you about planning a wedding? That it can certainly cause some arguments in the lead up. It’s not always romantic to plan a wedding and sometimes you have to compromise.

Best advice for other couples planning a wedding? Make sure to take some time out after your photos for just the two of you to take it all in before the reception. We had this advice from a few people and found it so useful. We did this and it was one of the best moments of the day. We had some Champagne and took some photos on the Polaroid camera.

What was the most expensive item on the day? The bar tab. We wanted to make sure people could have a nice cold drink every moment of the day. Most was spent during our two hours of cocktails. We had coconut margaritas, espresso martinis and Aperol spritz. Everyone loved them so it was worth it!

Any funny moments throughout the wedding? When one of my bridesmaids and one of Noah’s groomsmen entered the reception and did their little dance at the top, they moved down the stairs and he dipped her again midway down. She hit her head against the banister pretty hard, everyone thought it was pretty funny! Thankfully, she was fine and it has now gone viral on TikTok!
