Weather presenter Josh Holt is on cloud nine after marrying the love of his life at a stunning destination wedding.

Holt, 10 News First Queensland’s meteorologist, and his partner of four years, Skye Davis, tied the knot on October 1 in front of 80 guests at St Mary’s By The Sea followed by the reception at Nautilus Restaurant in Port Douglas.

The pair first met when Skye moved into Holt’s apartment building in Newstead in Brisbane’s north and two years ago, Holt proposed on his 40th birthday.

It was star-studded guest list including — and — but Holt said having his mum by his side meant the most to him.

“It was so important to have my beautiful mother there on my special day,” he said.

“She is the most amazing person and means the absolute world to me.

“I would not be the person I am today without her.”

The proposal?Josh: It was my 40th birthday and we went down and stayed at The Star on the Gold Coast. Just before we headed out to dinner, I asked Skye to watch a goof reel that work put together for my 40th. Instead, I was on the newsdesk doing a mock news bulletin and during the video I proceeded to talk about all our great memories that we had shared, how amazing she was and then I asked Skye to marry me at the end of the video. I was sitting next to her and presented the ring. She said ‘yes!’

How and why did you choose your wedding venue? We have always loved the beautiful St Mary’s By The Sea chapel in Port Douglas. It has a very special connection with Skye and her family. Nautilus Restaurant is synonymous with the area and is located in the most incredible setting in the rainforest.

How did you go about choosing your wedding dress? Skye: The dress was from Pallas Couture and the whole experience with them was fantastic. Inspired from vintage lingerie to create the mood of a modern-day Princess Grace. I knew when I tried on the dress it was the one!

What was the most stressful part of wedding planning? Being a destination wedding we had to fly everyone in including the photographer, videographer, entertainment etc. If one of these people does not make it, then you are going to be in a spot of bother. We were blessed that everyone made it and did such a wonderful job.

First Dance song? Unchained Melody performed by Russ Walker.

Honeymoon? Italy, France, and Spain for three weeks.

Any unique or surprising details about your wedding? The groom’s sister Danielle who was MC, organised a traditional indigenous smoking ceremony at the start of the reception. This was a surprise to the bride and groom. It was performed by the local “Kuku Yalanji” tribe.

What was the standout moment of the day? Josh: There were so many, but the standout moment was when Skye walked down the aisle wearing her stunning dress and looking absolutely amazing, my heart skipped a beat. Also, the stunning setting of St Mary’s situated on the Coral Sea and Nautilus Restaurant in the rainforest.

What would you do differently? We would recommend that you give yourself as much time as you can for your wedding photos. We were a little rushed after the ceremony due to the reception timing. We got it done and we love our photos, but more time would have made it easier.

Is there a wedding hack you can share which saved you time and money? We did all the styling and design work which we really enjoyed the process. This would have saved us on a stylist and designer.

Best advice for other couples planning a wedding? Get what you really want, its worth it. Things do go wrong so don’t sweat the small stuff and make sure you take in and savour every moment because it goes incredibly fast.
