Police reveal porn star Sophia Leone’s official cause of death

Police have released the official cause of death of a popular adult entertainer whose body was found in “suspicious” circumstances.

A popular adult entertainer whose death was described as “suspicious” died from an accidental overdose, police have determined.

Sophia Leone, 26, was found “unresponsive” in her apartment in the US state of New Mexico on March 1.

The circumstances around her death were initially deemed so “unique” that police brought in a homicide detective to assist with the investigation.

However, toxicology reports have confirmed Leone suffered an accidental overdose, according to TMZ.

Confusion first arose surrounding Leone’s death after her body was found with “no signs of trauma” theNew York Post reported previously.

The porn star’s LA modelling agency also claimed her death was being investigated as a “robbery and homicide”, while Leone’s mother spoke out about her battle with drinking and subsequent mental health issues.

A GoFundMe page was launched shortly after her death by her stepfather Mike Romero to help pay for funeral expenses. It’s currently raised $US14,183 (about $21,000).

“The sudden loss of Sophia has left her family and friends devastated and in shock,” Mr Romero wrote on the fundraising page.

“Sophia was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. She had a deep love for all animals, specifically her three pets.

“She enjoyed travelling and always found ways to make everyone around her smile.”

Leone, who broke into the industry in 2014, starred in more than 80 films, according to her IMDB page.

The star told fans to “go outside and just appreciate life a little extra” in a tragic last post before her death.

She shared the poignant message to her 300,000 followers on Instagram in September, the New York Post reported.

“Go outside and just appreciate life a little extra today,” she wrote as she flashed the peace sign to the camera.

Many fans and friends paid tribute to Leone after news of her sudden death went public, with some describing it as a “sad day”.

Fellow adult film star Riley Kay Carlson said the young entertainer had “taught me so much” in a touching tribute shared on X.

Another porn actor, Riley Jean, wrote: “I’m so f**king sorry to anyone who knew Sophia. Her and I interacted with each other a handful of times but we were never super close. If anybody needs someone to talk to please feel free to send me a message. This is a hard time for all of us.”

Brian Berke, who runs the agency that represented Leone, expressed his heartbreak over the rising star’s death.

“At 18 years old you started with me at AMA and now at 26 I have to say goodbye,” Berke wrote on X.

“We had such an Amazing Bond (sic). Always reminding each other how much we cared. I was supposed to be your guardian angel. A piece of me is gone. I love you, Sophia.”
