Search for missing Gold Coast dogs nears breakthrough

A community has joined forces in the search for two missing dogs lost after a car accident on the Gold Coast 10 days ago.

There have been few sightings of Storm the red cattle dog.

Volunteers searching for two dogs missing for 10 days after a motorway crash on the Gold Coast believe they are closing in on their quarry.

A red cattle dog named Storm and a rhodesian named Rosco escaped following the two-vehicle accident on the Pacific Motorway at Yatala on January 8.

A Facebook page dedicated to finding the pair has reported multiple sightings of Rosco in Ormeau, while Storm, who has been sighted far less, was possibly seen near Mt Gravatt and Capalaba.

On Tuesday, updates on social media suggested the owners we getting closer to being reunited with Rosco, believing they now knew the general area he was located.

Rosco the rhodesian is believed to have been spotted in Ormeau.

One of the search co-ordinators, Kylie Dwyer, said tracker dogs may brought in to find the red cattle dog.

“At this stage, a tracker dog is not the best option for Rosco, as we know where he is tracking and don’t want to do anything that may cause him to feel threatened in his safe zone,” Ms Dwyer said.

“We are already in conversation with people about tracking dogs for Storm.”

Ms Dwyer thanked the community for its mammoth effort in searching for the pair.

“Thank you to everyone who has offered, walked, searched and driven. We need a little patience and a lot of luck,” Ms Dwyer said.

Those keen to help out are encouraged to report any sightings of either dog, but the owners urge people to not approach or call out to them.
