Ulric is off duty when at home but always sticks close to Matt and loves to play.Matt was an investigator with the ADF. He was deployed to the Middle East on a couple of occasions and investigated the deaths of soldiers. He developed severe PTSD through what he investigated and saw. The PTSD only manifested itself after he injured his back and was no longer able to work - when there was nothing keeping him busy his trauma floated to the surface. His service dog Ulric has saved his life - literally. He says the dog stopped him from killing himself on two occasions. On an everyday level, the dog is there to sense his anxiety and get him out of situations that could be bad for him. He wants to get the message across the service these dogs perform, and how they should be treated in public (ie, if you see a dog with a "Service Dog" jacket, you pretend it's not there, don't go patting it).
