A threatening letter sent to a Bribie Island local has led one resident to fear for the safety of his children as a common neighbour complaint turns ugly.

Patrick Chambers has taken to his local Facebook community page to vent his anger at a letter he received from an angry neighbour threatening to poison his dog Pixel.

The post, which has already received hundreds of comments, was posted to the Bribie Island Community Facebook page with many concerned locals telling the owner of the dog to go to the police.

The neighbour has supposedly threatened Mr Chambers about his “annoying constantly barking” dog before but has declared this is their “final warning.”

“If this problem continues, I will have no problems at all by poisoning the dog with a tasty treat thrown over the fence,” the letter read.

In Mr Chambers’ post to the Facebook group he described how he was concerned his young kids would accidentally eat the poison if the neighbour was to throw a treat over the fence.”

“Our dog (Pixel) doesn’t deserve to be poisoned because she barks a little bit. Neither do our kids who pick up (often put in their mouth) anything they can find in the yard.”

The neighbour which ensured that the letter was “not a bluff,” has been marked as heartless as well as a “real piece of work.”

Queensland Police have been contacted for comment.
