I don't have a shopping problem, I have a Christmas problem

"What our Christmas mornings look like," a mum proudly says in a clip showing her entire living room overflowing with wrapped gifts.

Woman called ‘disgusting’ for forgetting what Christmas is about as she reveals living room floor covered in presents

A lot of parents feel that the joy of Christmas is in their kids; well, giving gifts to their kids.

It sounds superficial but there's a strong natural instinct that's satisfied when we're watching our kids tear off wrapping and squeal with delight. Because really all we want for Christmas is happy kids.

But in the current cost-of-living crisis, many families are being forced to cut back on the giving. Many - but not all.

One mum, for example, has chosen not to do that, and has instead posted her enormous gift haul on TikTok. And by enormous we mean boxes upon boxes of wrapped gifts that are overflowing in her living room and covering its floor.

And while that's absolutely her choice, the clip has gone viral because not all viewers are filled with Christmas Spirit watching what to them feels like total extravagance.

"What our Christmas mornings look like"

Gilla Leigh, who is from a family of eight, has divided viewers after revealing her living room floor completely covered in piles and piles of beautifully wrapped gifts. She's admitted elsewhere on her profile that she gives her children "around 17" presents each, and that she transforms her home into a winter wonderland each year.

The post is captioned, "What our Christmas mornings look like," and a voice over the clip says, "Listen, I don't have a shopping problem, I have a Christmas problem."

She adds, "I love Christmas."

"This is disgusting"

The clip quickly attracted more than a million views; but the comments section is very divided.

"Ridiculous," says one.

"This is disgusting," claims another.

A third notes that the "Number of gifts is irrelevant, family and memories are what’s important." Many others echo that, with one writing, "Christmas isn't about the gifts, it's about family."

This person agrees: "It’s not about what’s under the tree, it’s about who’s around it!"

Lastly, another says: "Christmas is so much more then presents!"

This viewer, who was backed up by others, laments, "I wish I could enjoy this but, all I can think about all the kids without gifts."

There were some who come to Gilla Leigh's defense.

"I can’t say that if I had the money, I wouldn’t do the same!" admits one.

And another says, "I love this. I used to do this when the kids were little. They are 14, 15 and 12 years old. If you can do it why not!!"
