Horrific moment a pilot crashes his plane seconds after gender reveal stunt

A pilot has tragically died after a gender reveal went disastrously wrong.

Taking place in the beautiful San Pedro, Mexico, a pregnant couple were ready to share the happy news with their closest friends and family. 

The expecting parents decided the best way to reveal their news was to hire a pilot and a small plane, which would jet colourful smoke indicating the baby’s gender.

Pilot crashes aircraft during gender reveal

In a clip uploaded onto X (the website formally known as Twitter), the mum and dad duo was captured standing in front of a large sign reading “Oh baby.” 

Hand-in-hand facing each other, onlookers watched a Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft pick up speed and fly closer to the party. 

As the camera panned upward, the plane expelled the colourful smoke - it was pink; the couple were having a daughter. 

As the smoke filled the space, a pyrotechnic display with pink glitter went off simultaneously. 

In a flash, the plane's left wing gave way, and the plane started spinning into its fatal tailspin. 

Screams filled the audio as the onlookers watched the plane crash into the ground. But the screams weren’t for the pilot but for the happy couple, who were continuing to celebrate.

Pilot rushed to hospital but died upon arrival

Despite the camera person capturing the moment the plane went down, the fatal incident didn’t seem to attract the others in the crowd, nor the expecting parents, oblivious of their surroundings as they hugged each other.

The pilot lay in the rubble as emergency crews assisted in getting him out. 

A later photo, which is too graphic to share, showed the wreckage of the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee, completely destroyed by the crash. 

The pilot, identified as Luis Ángel N, 32, was rushed to a San Pedro hospital in critical condition, reported Linea Directa Portal. 

He was unconscious upon arrival, and tragically the doctors found no vital signs, pronouncing him dead. He was the only person inside the plane. 

Authorities are yet to confirm what caused the plane crash.
