Kyle Sandilands reveals eye-watering salary for Australian Idol

The radio shock jock has confirmed how much he earns for his three-month gig live on air. It will stun even the fellow judges!

Aussies know Kyle Sandilands isn't short on cash. His wealth has been well-documented for years. He celebrated his wedding recently that exceeded a $1 million budget, confirmed how much his baby son has in the bank, and donates from his own wallet to charities and his devoted Kyle and Jackie O listeners whenever he gets the chance. 

So hearing his salary for his side-hustle gig of being a judge on Australian Idol shouldn't shock us.

Kyle's eye-watering Australian Idol salary

During an interview singer Dean Lewis, the conversation quickly turned to the shock jock earnings. And he was happy to discuss all of the things. 

The Aussie singer was talking about his gruelling schedule of touring and turned to Kyle to weigh in on the conversation based on his own experience of juggling Idol and his KIIS breakfast program. 

When Kyle agreed that it was a lot to take on, Dean asked: "You’re already balling … why are you doing it?"

When asked if his salary is outrageous, Kyle didn't hesitate to answer the question. 

"[It's] clearly over a million dollars for three months work. You’d be a fool not to do it," he confirmed.

While he was happy to share the amount, it was a bit of a whoopsie moment for the radio star, who confessed he probably shouldn't have shared so much in case his fellow Idol judges, including returning star Marcia Hines, weren't on the same deal. 

"I don’t know how much they’re paying the other so maybe I shouldn’t have said that," he laughed. 

Not in it for the money

While Kyle confirmed his deal is offering "good money" and hard to pass up, he confirmed he isn't in it for the pay. Even if it is hard work and long days to do both his radio program and film a TV show. 

"I’m not doing it for the money... I don’t know. I don’t care about being on TV."

Jackie O's reaction 

While many would be shocked at hearing the amount for just three months of work, someone who wasn't so phased at hearing it was Kyle's radio co-host Jackie O. 

Jackie didn't flinch when Kyle threw the "million" word out because according to reports, her own salary for her judging role on The Masked Singer , which she has now left, sat around the same sum.
