Could she be any more relatable?

Even celebrities, with their boujee at-home gyms and personal trainers on hand, struggle to get through a workout sometimes, as Jennifer Aniston reveals. Here’s why.

Jennifer Aniston is no stranger to trendsetting. For nearly three decades, the Friends alum has been a style pioneer (often inadvertently), influencing people’s lifestyles and fashion choices across generations

From her infamous ‘Rachel’ haircut (that was used as a reference photo in almost every salon during the nineties), to the viral ‘Jen Aniston’ quinoa salad that blew up on TikTok last year, it seems everything the actress’ name is attached to is instantly a hit.

But as popular as Aniston’s hairstyles and lunch recipes may be, her iconic celebrity status has never been able to shake her classic ‘Girl Next Door’ connotation.

Now, the relatable star has given people another reason to love her. Like you and I, Jennifer Aniston admits she too is susceptible to feeling less than motivated during a Monday morning workout.

Posting a video to her Instagram, Aniston reveals some short snippets of her morning workout, failed pushups and all.

“If you’re having one of THOSE Mondays, I FEEL YOU,” the caption reads. “Just gotta do it!!”

The clip includes the 54-year-old actress flopping to the ground after an intense round of pushups. “Oh god…,” Aniston sighs. “You know those days when you just don’t wanna do it? You just gotta do it.”

Since entering her forties, the actress has focussed her training regime on longevity and mobility, swapping her intense daily cardio workouts for gentler, more targetted movements.

“It was like run, run, run, run, run, boxing, boxing, boxing, boxing,” the actor reminisces to SELF. “I really just pounded my body.”

For the last few years, Aniston has been a devout fan of Pvolve. This resistance-based training method incorporates functional movement designed to strengthen and sculpt the body without pushing it too far.

Aniston can be seen sweating through a combination workout in the video, exemplifying the Pvolve functional training method. From mountain climbers and push-ups to slanted balance exercises, Aniston’s mashup of exercises is exhausting to even watch.

Jen’s shift towards gentler workouts

In her infamous 2022 Allure magazine interview, Aniston revealed her fifties to be her favourite decade yet, full of the kind of unapologetic peace that only comes with maturity.

“I feel the best in who I am today, better than I ever did in my 20s or 30s even, or my mid-40s. We needed to stop saying bad shit to ourselves,” she shares. “You’re going to be 65 one day and think, I looked fucking great at 53.”

Her updated exercise mindset is rooted in a deep respect for her body, now choosing movements and workouts that encourage recovery. “Our minds used to think, we have to hurt; no pain, no gain…With this, you can start gentle," Aniston says, referencing the Pvolve program.

“Especially as we get into our lovely older periods, we have to keep [exercise] exciting. And we have to be kinder to our bodies,” she adds.
