An $8 item from one of Australia’s department stores has been described as the “ultimate find”, with many others expressing an eagerness to get their hands on them.

A woman who runs a social media platform on behalf of her Dachshund, Rupert, revealed she had purchased Mirabella’s 20 Sausage Dog Wire Lights from Big W.

“So fun,” she said, saying it looked like her dog.

The miniature versions of the dogs were wearing Christmas hats — even though it is September.

However, many customers seem enamoured with the trinket.

Others said they “needed these immediately,” they were “running” to the store and “add to cart”.

“How cool. I have a bestie in USA with a sausageboy. Look out for a package Mr Ernster,” one said.

Another commented: “Added to cart straight away + all the other snag related Xmas attire. Run don’t walk.”

“I wish we had BIG W in New Zealand! I NEED THESE,” one commiserated.

A Big W spokesperson said with less than a hundred days until Christmas, some customers were already gearing up for it.

“With just a few months until Christmas, we know many of our customers start planning for the festive season early and with many families looking to budget, we want to provide them opportunities to space out their spend and save on items where they can,” a Big W spokesperson told news.com.au.

“This is why customers may already see Christmas products in store and online. We are excited to offer customers a range of traditional but also some unique festive products such as our Sausage Dog Wire Lights ready to bring their celebrations to life.”

It comes as Big W overhauled its basics range — including jeans, basic tees, activewear and linen blends — after 18 months of taking on extensive customer, industry and quality research.

All together, there are 82 “new and improved products” across men and women’s basics.

The brand worked closely with real customers and team members through wear and wash testing to find areas to improve fit, comfort and size consistency.

Around 80 per cent of the range is under $20.

“As one of Australia’s most trusted brands, BIG W is continuously listening to the needs of Aussie families. Our customer listening sessions uncovered that our shoppers struggled with the fit and quality of some of our products,” said Lowri Breed, Big W’s head of clothing.

“Rather than shying away from negative feedback, we chose to face it head on and work collaboratively with our customers to create a new and improved standard across our clothing department.

“The basics range is just the start of our transformation in delivering quality, comfortable and durable products that meet the demands of everyday wear.”

As always, customers can shop through Pick Up, home delivery and direct to boot.
