Celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge’s dogs mauled by neighbour’s group of dogs

Colin Fassnidge has told of the moment his beloved pet was almost torn apart by his neighbour’s dogs in what is apparently not the first attack.

Celebrity chef and My Kitchen Rules host Colin Fassnidge is considering legal action after his beloved pets were mauled by a pack of dogs who escaped from a neighbouring property.

Police are now investigating after it took five adults to pull the three dogs off Fassnidge’s little shih tzu terrier Brann.

“They had each end of the terrier and were pulling her apart, and the other one was in the middle,” Fassnidge told Sunrise this morning.

“Sticks, whatever we used, we couldn't get it off.

“The dog’s screaming, I thought she was dead. There was blood everywhere, she was in the gutter.”

Fassnidge, who lives in Malabar in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, said the incident wasn’t an isolated event, claiming police have been called after two previous dog attacks.

Fassnidge posted details of the incident on his Instagram account yesterday, including pictures of his wounded dogs Ellie and Brann at the vet receiving treatment for their numerous injuries.

Brann suffered “extensive injuries and multiple puncture wounds and large areas of swelling and bruising,” the vet said.

Ellie, Fassnidge’s dalmatian, “had more minor injuries to all four of her paws”.

The chef was also treated for an injury to the back of his leg that he sustained during the dogfight.

“This is the third attack and worst from the same dogs,” he said. “Second time NSW Police have come out to the scene (and I thank them). It took five adults to get my dogs free.”

It also suffered puncture wounds on its head and hind leg.

Ellie suffered injuries to her four paws.

The dogs are now recovering after treatment.

“The owners of the dogs … left my dog to die in the gutter, no remorse, no call in to see if (everything was OK) later that night.”

Fassnidge lashed the dog’s owners, calling them “grubs” and saying behaviour is determined by “how they’re brought up”.

“Dogs are not born killers” he said.

“After the attack, a young girl aged about 10 with a new puppy walked past and I realised how much worse it could have been. A puppy, a child and three 40kg dogs.”

He told Sunrise he was considering legal action.

Randwick Council rangers are investigating the incident.

The council said one of the dogs involved was previously placed under a dangerous dog order.
