FLOUR & CHOCOLATE
The French pastry favourite is so loved at this suburban bakery, you can expect queues of up to 20 minutes of a morning. Savoury lovers can choose from their traditional plain or ham and cheese, but it’s the sweet versions that really get mouths salivating such as their almond and chocolate, hazelnut and chocolate or ever-changing specialty creations such as a caramelised apple incarnation or twice-baked rocky road delight.

CHOUQUETTE
Among the beautiful eclairs, mirror-finished cakes and tantalising tarts at this boulangerie patisserie, you’ll find croissants so good they’ll even impress the most critical of Francophiles. Gault&Millau Pastry Chef of the Year finalist Valentin Mille makes the classics in three varieties: traditional, chocolate and raisin, and they are perfect with a morning coffee.
19 Barker St, New Farm
LE BON CHOIX
Supplying some of the city’s biggest and best hotels with their tanned, flaky croissants, this French patisserie with various locations knows how to make a good pastry. The traditional will always be a winner with us, but their pain au chocolate and almond versions don’t disappoint.

CRUST & CO
Whether it’s the mini version, classic chocolate or their beautiful pistachio variety, the golden pastry numbers at this rustic-style bakery are top notch. Our personal favourite is the almond, encrusted with a ridge of flaky, icing sugar-dusted nuts. Delicious!

BANNETON
This beloved Brisbane bakery is all about keeping it traditional with their adored croissants. You’ll find classic flavours: almond, chocolate and plain all with rich golden pastry that shatters like glass with each bite.

BREWBAKERS
While stellar sourdoughs may be what this bakery is best known for, their perfectly curled croissants deserve just as much attention. The dough is wafer thin and uber buttery, melting in your mouth to give you a little slice of Paris in Brisbane’s inner north.
