However, large by-fold doors ensure even those dining inside on high wooden tables are guaranteed ample views of the Noosa River across the road.

A fitting starter is the trio of hot smoked salmon, kingfish and trout – each perched on a herby mix of creme fraiche, cooked cauliflower and preserved lemon.

Even better are the delicately battered fried zucchini flowers stuffed with whipped buffalo fetta resting on diced tomatoes, in a lemony, caper dressing. For mains you might tuck into the waygu sirloin, with three bubble and squeak croquettes and roasted cheery tomatoes or keep things light in the daily longline caught fish which on our visit is grilled Spanish mackerel, served with a light side of shaved fennel ribbons, tarragon, pear, mint and pecan.

Desserts include a pink lady apple tarte tatin with its wafer layers of puff pastry and sticky caramelised apple served with a ball of caramel ice cream. There’s also a selection of Australian, UK and Italian cheeses.

Relaxed, friendly staff put diners at ease and know their way around the refined menu as well as the decent-enough wine list. Nine years on, this remains a top choice in the area, particularly at lunch to take in the views.
