Chef Adrian Richardson is bringing his sell-out suckling pig events to the Queensland capital, promising enough pork to give you the meat sweats.

For almost 20 years, his signature suckling pig dinners have sold out at the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival in a matter of hours, now celebrity chef Adrian Richardson is bringing his famous pork feasts to Brisbane.

The star of TV’s Good Chef Bad Chef and owner of La Luna Bistro in Melbourne will take over BOS restaurant in Brisbane’s CBD on April 22-23, hosting two multi-course suckling pig extravaganzas.

“It’s a huge hit in Melbourne; it sells out so fast and we have hundreds of people contacting the restaurant saying, ‘Can we please do another one’,” Richardson said.

The pork-themed lunches will cater to between 100 and 110 guests each day, with diners sitting down to bacon and onion bread with bacon butter, a host of handmade sausages and charcuterie, crispy pigs’ ears, cotechino sausage with lentils and red wine jus, bacon croquettes, and the main course – 5kg free-range suckling pigs served alongside a variety of sides, including bacon fat-roasted potatoes. There will also be dessert, plus wine from Giant Steps and a variety of beer all included in the $225pp ticket.

“It’s a good fun event and it’s good value for money,” Richardson said, with bookings available at bosbrisbane.com.au

BOS TWEETS NEW TUNE

On the topic of BOS, the CBD steakhouse that opened at the end of last year has a new head chef at the helm and is gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited rooftop bar, The Aviary Terrace.

Head chef Nick Foat has left, with Dylan Swepson (ex-City Winery) taking his place in the kitchen, rolling out an improved menu alongside executive chef Adrian Richardson, who brought his team up from Melbourne’s La Luna Bistro to ensure the changeover was a smooth one.

“We all worked together for a week and it was really enjoyable,” Richardson said.

With the restaurant now finding its feet, Richardson and BOS owners Chris Higgins and Liam McMahon are finishing work on the long-awaited bar next door The Aviary Terrace.

Occupying the fourth floor of 480 Queen St in the City, the terrace is designed as an adults’ playground with booth seating, multiple bars, Brisbane River views, a DJ platform and a long table that will double as a catwalk and dance floor.

Richardson is finalising the menu, which he said would be casual and predominantly snack-based, with the likes of oysters, a burger, charcuterie and steak frites; matched by an extensive global wine list and generous cocktail offering.

The venue is pushing for a May opening.
