of our state’s most romantic date night restaurants.

Bosco Wine Grill Newstead
Turn up the heat for your next date night at this flame-powered delight in the inner-city suburb of Newstead. There’s no electricity and gas to be found in the kitchen, with the team instead relying solely on the custom-built open fire oven and parrilla grill to create their mouth-watering, European-inspired menu. Each of the dark, wooden tables welcome in the warmth of the low firelight, perfect for those tender moments. Forget finding the most polite way to ask for a bite of your lover’s meal, with the share-style menu designed for those exact moments, featuring everything from whole suckling pig to clay pot fideua pasta and ember hung whole Bannockburn chicken.

Rosmarino Fortitude Valley
At Rosmarino, the Italian cuisine is built on love and passion,
so you can’t go past this authentic Fortitude Valley ristorante for the perfect romantic setting. There’s something about the exposed brick, warm sconce lighting and dark wood that just screams intimacy, and we would be remiss not to mention the framed family pictures that adorn the walls, reminding guests of the family and couple who brought the space to life. If the vibes alone aren’t enough, the meals here are downright stunning, our favourite plate to share being the macinamisu featuring coffee cream, mascarpone, biscotti, milk & rum, meringue, zabaione and cacao powder.

The Tamarind Maleny
Spicers Retreats are known for their fantastic dining offerings, and their Maleny venue is no different. If food is the way to your heart, The Tamarind is the ticket, with a fresh and imaginative approach to fine Thai cuisine. Classically French-trained chef Daniel Jarrett takes diners on a taste journey, drawing on typically Thai flavours like lemongrass, fish sauce and ginger to bring together both banquet dining, with wine pairings, and a three-course a la carte menu that will impress even the pickiest of diners. The venue feels like stepping into a tropical oasis, all warm wood and palm leaves, with the stunning rainforest outside providing the perfect backdrop.
88 Obi Lane South, Maleny
Misono Surfers Paradise
If you are looking for a romantic rendezvous that’s a little lighter and brighter, and dare we say fun, head out of the city and down the M1 to Misono teppanyaki at the JW Marriott at Surfers Paradise. Whether its watching head chef Henry Bongay put on his entertaining shoes (OK, maybe just his chef hat) and turn the kitchen into a stage with his infamous “flying rice” or from the sushi chefs’ epic knife skills or endless whisky options at the bar, Misono will leave your date bragging for months to come. And if you left the kids with the babysitter hoping for romance without the sound of children, you can escape other families in the private adults-only dining rooms.
158 Ferny Ave, Surfers Paradise
Agnes Fortitude Valley
There is truly nothing more romantic than being tucked up with your soulmate, a glass of red in hand and embraced in the warmth and glow of a hearth, which is exactly the vibe inside Agnes. Another wood-fire-only restaurant, this one, across three distinct levels in Fortitude Valley, took out the top gong in last year’s Gourmet Traveller Awards, and is one of the most sought after dining experiences in the sunshine state. The food here is to die for, with a menu alight with dishes like signature potato sourdough, wood roasted duck with nectarine and burnt honey and a blackberry mille-feuille with aged fig vinegar.
