New cafe to open in iconic Indooroopilly Bowls Club

After closing when liquidators were called in in 2014, the bistro at this much-loved bowls club in Brisbane’s west is set to reopen, this time as a fresh, family owned cafe.

MORE than seven years after it served its last meal, Indooroopilly Bowls Club is getting ready to feed customers again, with the opening of a new cafe inside the 81-year-old institution.

The venue, which shut down in 2014 after liquidators were called in, was turned into a fitness centre, but the former bistro site had been left empty.

Now brothers Mustapha and Adam Habbouchi, who worked their way up in hospitality after starting out at Red Rooster, are preparing to breathe new life into the iconic space, opening Two Brothers Cafe this Saturday.

The 150sq m eatery will offer a mixed breakfast and lunch menu, which moves from classics like eggs on toast and pancakes with fruit and ice cream to more modern creations like chilli scrambled eggs with slow-cooked brisket, coconut pannacotta with toasted muesli and the baked egg dish shakshuka.

Coffee will come from Sunshine Coast roastery Good Bean, while there will also be a variety of hot and cold drinks, including mocktails and iced teas, that can be enjoyed in the plant-filled indoor dining area or outside watching over the bowling greens.

The cafe is set to be the first of many for the brothers, who will also be working with their sisters Sabrine and Imani to roll out at least three stores in the next six months. The next is scheduled for the newly revamped Springwood Mall, followed by an outlet in Morayfield, north of Brisbane.

“We think we have a really good concept, we’re focused on quality of food and amazing customer service and everything is locally sourced,” Mustapha said.
