One of Queensland’s most popular restaurants, Hellenika at Brisbane’s The Calile Hotel, is set to close at the end of the month for a multimillion-dollar renovation.
The Greek taverna, which is regularly booked out on weekends, is undergoing a mini makeover after five years in its Fortitude Valley home.
While the works will see the layout and look of the restaurant remain largely the same, it will include new and restored furniture, upgrades to the sound proofing, fans and heating; new glass panels for wind mitigation and moving the pool fence to create one open space between the restaurant and the hotel’s pool.
“Hellenika is busy, there’s 1000 people walking through a day, so there’s a lot of maintenance that needs to be done,” said owner Simon Gloftis.
Mr Gloftis said he will also be rejigging the menu, introducing new specials and reworking his prized fish offering to make it more enticing for customers.
The restaurant will close on July 31 for the renovations, with plans to reopen on August 14.
